The National Weather Service has issued a rip current advisory for several beaches along South Carolina’s Lowcountry coast through Wednesday evening.
Rip Current Risk in Effect
The advisory includes the following beaches:
- Cape Romain
- Isle of Palms
- Sullivan’s Island
- Folly Beach
- Kiawah Island
Expected Beach Conditions
According to the National Weather Service, surf heights are expected to range between 2 and 3 feet.
Officials warn that rip currents can quickly pull swimmers away from shore and create dangerous conditions in the water.
Safety Reminder for Beachgoers
Beach visitors are encouraged to follow instructions from local lifeguards and beach patrols.
The National Weather Service also advises swimmers to pay close attention to posted beach flags and warning signs before entering the water.
