Two Ridgeland residents have been charged after allegedly following another driver to a Beaufort County parking lot and assaulting him following a road rage incident.
Road Rage Incident Leads to Arrests
According to authorities, the incident occurred on May 24 after a dispute between drivers on the road.
Investigators said the two suspects followed the other driver to the Broad River Boat Landing parking lot.
Assault Allegedly Took Place in Parking Lot
After the victim parked, the suspects allegedly approached him and physically assaulted him.
Police said the victim suffered bodily injuries during the attack.
Mob Assault Charges Filed
The 21-year-old and 29-year-old suspects were each charged with third-degree assault and battery by mob.
Under South Carolina law, a mob is defined as two or more people acting together with the planned intent to commit violence.
Suspects Remain in Custody
Court records show both defendants were granted $5,000 surety bonds.
As of Friday, both remained in the Beaufort County jail while the case proceeds through the court system.
