A tragic road accident in Lee County, South Carolina, has resulted in one death and another person being hospitalised. The crash happened on Sunday afternoon and involved two vehicles travelling in the same direction.
Crash Reported on U.S. 15 in Lee County
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident took place around 12:30 p.m. on U.S. 15, also known as Sumter Highway, near Rockfish Lane.
Two vehicles were involved in the crash — a 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV and a 2014 Chevrolet Sonic car. Both were heading south at the time of the incident.
How the Accident Happened
Officials explained that the SUV slowed down to make a left turn into a private driveway. The driver of the Chevrolet Sonic, who was behind the SUV, could not stop in time.
As a result:
- The Sonic hit the Tahoe from behind
- After the impact, the car went off the road
- It then crashed into a tree
The impact of the crash was severe, especially for the smaller vehicle.
One Dead, One Injured
The driver of the Chevrolet Sonic died at the scene due to injuries from the crash. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim.
The driver of the Tahoe SUV was injured and taken to a hospital for treatment. Their current condition has not been shared.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident to understand all the details.
