Fire officials in Hanahan are investigating the cause of a fire that broke out Monday afternoon at a dual-use industrial building on Northpointe Industrial Boulevard.
According to the Hanahan Fire Department, firefighters and partner agencies responded to the scene around 5 p.m. after receiving reports of a fire in the back section of the building. Crews acted quickly and were able to bring the flames under control before the fire could spread further.
No Injuries Reported
Officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident. However, the fire caused structural and property damage to parts of the building. The full extent of the damage has not yet been released as investigators continue examining the scene.
Emergency crews remained at the location for some time after the fire was extinguished to ensure there were no remaining hotspots or safety concerns.
Smoke Alarms and Sprinklers Helped Limit Damage
Hanahan Fire Chief Christopher Zak said working smoke alarms and sprinkler systems played a major role in helping contain the fire and preventing more serious damage.
Zak also encouraged residents and business owners to take fire safety seriously and never hesitate to report suspicious smoke or fire concerns.
“We always want people to call, even if they’re unsure of something. If you see smoke, always call 911,” Zak said.
He also reminded residents that the Hanahan Fire Department offers a free smoke detector program for local homes. Residents needing smoke alarms can contact the department through its social media platforms for assistance.
Investigation Ongoing
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Fire officials have not yet announced whether the blaze is believed to be accidental or related to equipment issues inside the building.
