A woman was killed after colliding with a tree on Edisto Island

A tragic late-night accident in Edisto Island has resulted in the death of a woman after her vehicle crashed into a tree.

Crash Details

According to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened just before 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Officials reported that:

  • A midsize sedan was travelling westbound
  • The driver lost control of the vehicle
  • The car then struck a tree

The crash occurred at the intersection of Highway 174 and Oak Island Road.

Victim Identified

Authorities identified the victim as Sierra Curnell, 39.

She was the only person in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Ongoing

The sheriff’s office is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
