A man has been arrested for the April hit-and-run that killed a biker in Summerville

A South Carolina man has been charged nearly two months after a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Summerville.

Suspect Charged in Fatal Crash

Stanley Jerome Williams, 36, of Lincolnville, was charged on June 4 with hit-and-run resulting in death.

Court records show he was denied bond the following day.

Bicyclist Killed in April

The crash happened on April 11 on East Third North Street near Falcon Drive in Summerville.

The victim, 63-year-old George Randall Shirar, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Led to Suspect

According to investigators, surveillance footage showed the vehicle involved was traveling about 60 mph in a 30 mph zone before the collision.

Police identified the suspect through vehicle parts left at the scene and later traced a blue Toyota Highlander connected to Williams.

Arrested in Texas

The U.S. Marshals Service located Williams in Amarillo, Texas, on May 2.

He was returned to South Carolina on June 4 and booked into the Dorchester County jail.

Case Continues

Williams remains in custody as the investigation and court proceedings continue.
