Two people from Hephzibah were killed in a single-vehicle crash on Gordon Highway in Augusta early Friday morning, according to authorities.
Victims Identified
The Richmond County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 55-year-old William Pollock and 56-year-old Yvette Pollock.
Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Crash Happened Early Friday
According to officials, the crash occurred around 5:23 a.m. on the 2200 block of Gordon Highway near Barton Chapel Road.
Investigators said the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it struck the median.
Vehicle Overturned
Authorities said the vehicle crossed the westbound lanes, left the roadway, and overturned in a wooded area north of the highway.
Yvette Pollock, who was a passenger, was ejected from the vehicle. William Pollock remained inside the vehicle.
Investigation Ongoing
The westbound lanes of Gordon Highway were closed for approximately two hours following the crash before reopening around 8 a.m.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
