Pastor Found Dead Inside Charlotte Home
On April 6, 58-year-old Tammy McCollum was found shot inside her home in northwest Charlotte. She was a pastor at The Well Worship Center in Statesville and was known in the community for her service and faith.
Police arrived at the house after receiving a distress call in the early morning hours. Sadly, Tammy was declared dead at the scene.
Husband Arrested at the Scene
Authorities identified her husband, Eddie McCollum (61), as the main suspect. He was taken into custody at the home without any reported struggle.
According to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, he was later charged with first-degree murder. He has since been transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
911 Call Reveals Emotional Confession
Parts of the 911 call have been released, showing a very emotional and chaotic situation. In the call, the man reportedly said, “I just shot my wife,” and expressed panic and regret.
He also mentioned that there had been an argument before the shooting. Initially, he did not follow instructions to step outside when officers arrived.
