A woman was jailed for beating her roommates in Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. A woman was detained on Monday after assaulting two persons following an argument, according to the Mount Pleasant Police Department.

Andrea Doughty was arrested and charged with assault and violence in the second degree.

According to the police report, they arrived at the scene to investigate a lady who was hitting another roommate and their boyfriend.

According to the victims’ account, Doughty arrived home quite intoxicated and had a dispute with the other two victims. During the altercation, Doughty took a broomstick and struck one of the victims in the head with it.

Doughty told police that she and the victims had an altercation, and that during the encounter, she became terrified and grabbed a broom, striking one of the victims in the head. While explaining this, she told officers, “I probably should not have done that.” She also stated that she got into another confrontation with the other victim, but she wasn’t sure what transpired.

Officers reported obvious bruises on one of the victims’ heads and bleeding on another’s face, which matched the narrative.

Police reported that when recounting the incident, Doughty appeared to be heavily inebriated.

Though the victims did not originally seek to press charges, they were summoned back to the site 30 minutes later, and one of the victims expressed a desire to do so.

Doughty was arrested without any additional incident.
