A bank robbery case in South Carolina has led to the arrest of a suspect after a short investigation by local authorities.
Bank Robbery on King Street
The incident took place on April 21 in Charleston. According to the Charleston Police Department, a man entered a bank on King Street and allegedly demanded money from a teller.
Bank staff reported that the suspect tried to hide his identity by wearing a medical mask and covering one eye with gauze. He handed over a note asking for money, which made the situation tense for employees.
Suspect Escaped on Bicycle
Before officers could reach the location, the suspect reportedly fled the scene on a bicycle. This made it harder for police to catch him immediately, but the investigation continued.
Authorities collected details from witnesses and bank employees to identify the suspect.
Arrest After Investigation
After gathering evidence, police identified the suspect as Jonathan Clayton, 46.
He was arrested on Wednesday with the help of multiple agencies, including:
- The U.S. Marshals Service
- The North Charleston Police Department
Clayton has been charged with entering a bank with the intent to steal.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Police have confirmed that the case is still under investigation. Authorities are asking anyone with additional information to come forward and assist in the process.
