Airshow Location and Timing
The event will take place over Charleston Harbor in Charleston. This year, the airshow has been shortened to a one-day event and moved to the harbor due to ongoing military activity abroad. The main show is scheduled for Saturday between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Practice Flights Before the Event
Practice flights are expected on Thursday and Friday. These sessions are necessary for preparation, but they will also lead to temporary restrictions in the area, especially around the bridge and nearby waterways.
Bridge Closures and Restrictions
Authorities will manage movement on the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge for safety. On Thursday, the pedestrian walkway will remain closed from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. On Friday, the pedestrian lane will be closed from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and there will also be a single-lane closure in both directions between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
On Saturday, which is the main event day, the pedestrian walkway will close from 11 a.m., and the entire bridge will be shut down from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Due to this, heavy traffic is expected in and around the area.
Airspace and Water Safety Measures
During practice and the main show, strict safety rules will be in place. A no-fly zone will be enforced during specific hours, meaning drones and private aircraft will not be allowed. At the same time, a safety zone will also be active in the harbor, where only authorised boats can enter. These steps are taken to ensure the safety of both the performers and the public.
