A tense standoff in Spartanburg came to an end over the weekend with the arrest of two suspects. The incident unfolded Friday evening when the Spartanburg Police Department responded to a property on Saxon Avenue following reports of a break-in.

Homeowner Finds Suspects Inside Property

The homeowner, who had been attempting to secure the property after it had been repeatedly targeted by vagrants, called the police around 7:45 PM after discovering the suspects inside the house without permission. The homeowner was in the process of boarding up the property when he found the individuals inside and immediately alerted authorities.

Suspect Surrenders, Standoff Continues

Upon arriving at the scene, an officer knocked on the door, but the suspect who answered quickly closed it after briefly making eye contact. Hours later, one of the suspects, identified as Jennifer Smith, surrendered peacefully to the police. During questioning, Smith informed officers that the second suspect, Dejervu Rogers, remained inside the house.

SWAT Team Makes Entry

The standoff continued into the night as officers worked to apprehend Rogers. The Spartanburg SWAT Team was called in, and after several hours, they made entry into the home. Rogers was discovered hiding in a crawl space beneath the house.

Charges Filed Against Both Suspects

Both suspects have been charged with burglary. Additionally, Dejervu Rogers faces an additional charge of resisting arrest. The situation ended without further incident, and both individuals were taken into custody.

The Spartanburg Police Department continues to investigate the matter as they prepare for the next steps in the case.
