A man is in critical condition after a shooting in Walterboro, South Carolina, on Wednesday night, according to the Colleton County Sheriff’s Office.
Man Suffers Life-Threatening Injuries
Deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Grayson Street shortly after 10 p.m.
While officers were on the way, they learned that a 36-year-old man with gunshot wounds had been taken to Colleton County Medical Center.
Victim Airlifted to Trauma Center
Authorities said the victim suffered life-threatening injuries to his lower abdomen.
He was later airlifted to an area trauma hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Investigation Ongoing
Investigators said witnesses described the shooting as a targeted incident involving a single victim.
The sheriff’s office has identified persons of interest, but no arrests have been made.
