A Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a woman who was allegedly attacked and robbed in an alleyway earlier this month.
Suspect Charged With Murder and Robbery
Philadelphia police identified the suspect as 30-year-old Dawaun Lewis. He faces charges including murder, robbery causing serious bodily injury, theft, receiving stolen property, and possession of an instrument of crime.
The charges stem from the death of 45-year-old Keisha Farlow, whose body was discovered in Philadelphia on Sunday.
Woman Allegedly Attacked During Robbery
According to investigators, Farlow was in the 2600 block of North 24th Street around 2 a.m. when she was approached by a man carrying a brick.
Authorities allege the suspect attacked Farlow, causing fatal injuries, before taking her purse and fleeing the area. The purse was later found emptied a few blocks away.
Police also indicated that a possible accomplice may have been involved.
Investigation Leads to Arrest
Responding officers found Farlow deceased at the scene. Authorities later determined that she died from blunt force trauma.
Following an investigation, police arrested Lewis and charged him in connection with the killing.
Court Proceedings Ahead
Lewis was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for June 29.
Farlow, a mother of four children, is being remembered by family and loved ones following her death.
