A teenager charged in connection with a deadly 2025 shooting at a restaurant on Ocean Boulevard has been taken back into custody in Horry County.
Bond and Home Detention History
Evany McCray was originally granted a $75,000 bond and placed on home detention in November 2025.
Officials said McCray was later returned to jail after violating the conditions of his release.
Following a hearing before David Caraker, McCray’s home detention was revoked, and he was ordered to serve 90 days at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
Released Again Before Procedural Error Discovered
Authorities said McCray was allowed back onto home detention on March 13 because of good behavior.
However, Horry County officials later acknowledged that the victim in the case was not notified about the release because of a procedural mistake.
Judge Orders Teen Back Into Custody
During a home detention hearing Thursday morning, a judge ordered McCray back into custody.
Officials said he will remain jailed until a new residence can be approved for home detention.
Once authorities approve a new address, McCray may resume his bond conditions.
