Lexington County deputies arrested a woman in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred Friday in Gaston, South Carolina.
Incident Details
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD) responded to a report of a stabbing on Marshall Road in Gaston. Upon arrival, deputies were informed by a woman in the yard that the victim was inside the home and the suspect had fled the scene. Inside the residence, they found 22-year-old Gabrielle Cribb bleeding in a hallway while another person was attempting to apply pressure to her wounds.
Stabbing Linked to Earlier Argument
According to witnesses, the stabbing was the result of an argument between Cribb and the suspect, Constance Lever, which started at a bar the previous evening. Deputies learned that Lever had later arrived at Cribb’s home, taken a steak knife from the kitchen, and stabbed Cribb before leaving the scene.
One witness also informed deputies that they had contacted LCSD earlier, reporting that Lever had made threats, including stating she would “shoot up the home.”
Victim’s Death and Charges Against Lever
Cribb was rushed by EMS to Prisma Health Richland, where she underwent surgery in the trauma room. Unfortunately, hospital staff later informed law enforcement that Cribb succumbed to her injuries.
Lever has been arrested and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime in connection with the stabbing.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional details may be released as the case progresses.
