A tense overnight situation in Summerville ended with the arrest of a man after an alleged assault and standoff at a residential home. Authorities say the incident required a coordinated response from multiple agencies.

According to the Summerville Police Department, officers were called to the Oaknoll subdivision around 12:30 a.m. on Monday following reports of an assault at a home on Swift Court.

When police arrived, they found that the suspect had barricaded himself inside the house, creating a dangerous situation.

Police Response and Standoff

Due to the seriousness of the situation, specialised teams were brought in. SWAT officers and trained negotiators were deployed to the scene to handle the standoff safely.

Other agencies also assisted, including the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical teams. During this time, authorities issued a public alert asking nearby residents to stay indoors, avoid windows, and keep away from the area for their safety.
