North Charleston, S.C. – The North Charleston Police Department has announced the arrest of two additional suspects involved in the shooting on April 14 in the Wescott Community. The shooting targeted an occupied home in the 5000 block of Morrow Lane, and two men, David Taylor, 24, and Dwonenrion Washington, 21, now face multiple charges related to the crime.
Details of the Shooting Incident
The shooting occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 14 when police received reports of gunfire in the Wescott Community. Upon arrival, officers spoke to a resident who claimed that an unidentified vehicle had stopped in front of their house and opened fire. The gunshots struck both the residence and a parked vehicle several times before the suspects fled the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured during the shooting.
Charges Against the Suspects
Both Taylor and Washington have been charged with attempted murder, shooting into a dwelling, three counts of first-degree assault, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The arrest of the two men follows the previous arrest of Kohl Whitfield Clements, who was charged with attempted murder, three counts of assault and battery, and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
Collaborative Effort to Apprehend the Suspects
The North Charleston Police Department’s Gang Intervention Team, in partnership with the U.S. Marshals Service, played a key role in apprehending Taylor and Washington. The two suspects are currently being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.
As investigations continue, law enforcement urges anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
