Deputies in South Carolina responded to reports of a possible shooting at a Summerville market Wednesday afternoon after a dispute between a customer and a store clerk, authorities said.
Dispute Reported at Summerville Market
The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office responded to Complete Corner Market & Deli on West Richardson Avenue around 12:21 p.m. after receiving a 911 call about a possible shooting.
Officials said deputies detained one person believed to be the aggressor after arriving at the scene.
Store Owner Says Customer Became Aggressive
According to store owner Sam Alantour, the incident began after he refused to sell something to a customer.
Alantour said the customer became aggressive and allegedly tried to damage the store, prompting him to remove the person from inside the business to protect another customer.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Authorities confirmed there was one armed person at the scene, but investigators are still working to determine exactly what happened.
The sheriff’s office said no one was injured and no one was struck by gunfire.
Trespassing Notice Issued
Deputies issued a trespassing notice against the individual involved at the request of the property owner.
The investigation remains active.
