A driver was found dead Thursday morning after a wrong-way crash in North Charleston, police said.
Driver Killed After SUV Crashes Into Woods
According to the North Charleston Police Department, officers responded around 5:39 a.m. after receiving an iPhone crash notification near U.S. Highway 52 and NAD Road.
Investigators said the SUV went off the roadway and crashed into a wooded area.
Victim Pronounced Dead at Scene
Police said the driver was the only person inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity.
Crash Investigation Ongoing
The department’s Traffic Unit is investigating what caused the crash and what led up to the vehicle traveling the wrong way.
