A disturbing domestic violence case in North Charleston has led to the arrest of a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening others with a firearm.

Police Respond to Early Morning Disturbance

Officers from the North Charleston Police Department were called to a home on Rhett Park Drive just before 7:30 a.m. on Saturday following reports of a domestic incident.

When police arrived, they began investigating what appeared to be a violent confrontation inside the residence.

Allegations Against the Suspect

Authorities identified the suspect as Roddrick Mark Carter, 40.

According to the report:

  • He allegedly struck his girlfriend twice in the face
  • He then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her head
  • The victim ran to another room and hid in fear

The situation quickly escalated, putting multiple people in danger.

Neighbor Also Threatened

Police say a neighbour heard the disturbance and tried to step in to help.

However:

  • The suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the neighbour
  • He reportedly threatened to shoot her as well

This added another serious charge to the case.

Arrest and Charges

Officers later found a handgun inside the suspect’s vehicle.

Roddrick Mark Carter has now been charged with:

  • Two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm
  • One count of second-degree assault and battery

He was taken into custody and booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
