A tragic road accident in Charleston has claimed the life of an elderly woman, with authorities now confirming her identity and continuing their investigation.
Victim Identified After Fatal Crash
The Berkeley County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Bella Cousette, 79.
According to officials, she died from injuries sustained in the crash after being taken to the hospital.
How the Crash Happened
The accident occurred around 10:50 a.m. on Clements Ferry Road near Reflectance Drive in Charleston.
Police say the crash involved a Hyundai SUV and an 18-wheeler. Early reports suggest that the SUV was exiting a parking lot and attempted to cross traffic.
During this movement, the SUV reportedly crossed into the path of the truck travelling in the southbound lane.
Impact of the Collision
The 18-wheeler struck the SUV, causing it to go off the road and come to a stop on the shoulder.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported the driver to the hospital, but she later died from her injuries.

Authorities have confirmed that the crash is still under investigation. At this time, no charges have been filed.
