Berkeley deputies need help locating an armed shoplifter.

Moncks Corner, S.C. – The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an armed shoplifting incident at a Dollar General store in Ladson on April 11. Deputies responded to the scene around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a shoplifting involving a weapon.

Details of the Incident

According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect was seen taking merchandise from inside the store. When confronted by store personnel, the individual allegedly displayed a green-colored handgun before fleeing the scene.

Surveillance footage from the store shows the suspect exiting the business and fleeing the area on foot. Authorities have described the suspect as a black male, approximately 5’6” to 5’9” in height, and armed.

Public Safety Reminder

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office advises the public not to approach the suspect if seen but to contact law enforcement immediately. Deputies are continuing their search for the individual and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
