A disturbing domestic violence case in North Charleston has led to the arrest of a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and threatening others with a firearm.
Police Respond to Early Morning Disturbance
Officers from the North Charleston Police Department were called to a home on Rhett Park Drive just before 7:30 a.m. on Saturday following reports of a domestic incident.
When police arrived, they began investigating what appeared to be a violent confrontation inside the residence.
Allegations Against the Suspect
Authorities identified the suspect as Roddrick Mark Carter, 40.
According to the report:
- He allegedly struck his girlfriend twice in the face
- He then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at her head
- The victim ran to another room and hid in fear
The situation quickly escalated, putting multiple people in danger.
Neighbor Also Threatened
Police say a neighbour heard the disturbance and tried to step in to help.
However:
- The suspect allegedly pointed the gun at the neighbour
- He reportedly threatened to shoot her as well
This added another serious charge to the case.
Arrest and Charges
Officers later found a handgun inside the suspect’s vehicle.
Roddrick Mark Carter has now been charged with:
- Two counts of pointing and presenting a firearm
- One count of second-degree assault and battery
He was taken into custody and booked at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
