A Florida woman is accused of striking and killing a pedestrian before driving to work and beginning her shift, according to authorities.

Kerri Walden, 45, has been charged with hit-and-run involving death in connection with the April 15, 2025 crash that killed Jacob Mull, 45, in Brooksville, Florida.

Allegations Detail 90-Foot Dragging

According to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol, Walden was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Wiscon Road and California Street just after 4 a.m. When the light turned green, she allegedly struck Mull as he crossed the street.

Troopers say Mull was dragged approximately 87 feet before Walden continued driving. She allegedly drove about three miles to a nearby McDonald’s, where she began her work shift. Mull was later found dead in the roadway.

Investigators used traffic cameras to trace Walden’s Dodge Durango to the restaurant. Authorities reported that the vehicle’s front bumper was missing and that blood was found underneath the SUV. The blood was later matched to Mull’s DNA, according to police.

Arrest and Victim Remembered

After being read her Miranda rights, Walden reportedly told investigators she knew she “hit something” but believed it might have been a deer. Police say she stopped at a 7-Eleven after the collision and placed the detached bumper in her back seat but did not call 911 or report the crash.

Walden was arrested and booked into the Hernando County Jail, where she was being held on a $5,000 bond.

Family members described Mull as a father of three and grandfather of two, calling him a kind and gentle person in an online fundraiser established in his memory.
