Veteran actor James Handy, known for roles in Top Gun: Maverick and numerous television shows, has died after a stabbing at his California home. Police have arrested the son of Handy’s girlfriend in connection with the case.
Actor Dies After Stabbing
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, 81-year-old James Handy was found with a stab wound to the chest outside his home in Tarzana, California, on June 3.
He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Suspect Allegedly Called 911
Authorities said the suspect, 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, called 911 before officers arrived.
According to dispatch audio, the caller allegedly told emergency operators that he had killed a man.
Murder Charge Filed
Police arrested Gledhill at the scene and booked him into jail.
He has been charged with one count of murder, and his bail was set at $2 million.
Long Acting Career
Handy appeared in dozens of films and television series during his career, including Top Gun: Maverick, Jumanji, Arachnophobia, Logan, Criminal Minds, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Alias.

The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the case and is asking anyone with information to contact detectives.
