A California jury has awarded $176 million to the family of two young brothers who were killed in a 2020 crash involving socialite Rebecca Grossman and former Los Angeles Dodgers player Scott Erickson.
Fatal Crash Killed Two Brothers
The crash happened on Sept. 29, 2020, in Westlake Village, California.
Authorities said 11-year-old Mark Iskander and 8-year-old Jacob Iskander were crossing the street with their family when they were struck by a vehicle driven by Rebecca Grossman.
Both boys died from their injuries.
Allegations of Street Racing
Prosecutors alleged Grossman and Scott Erickson had been drinking at a restaurant before leaving in separate vehicles.
Authorities claimed the pair were speeding and engaging in street racing before the collision.
Investigators said Grossman was driving at speeds of up to 81 mph in a 45 mph zone.
Grossman Convicted
Grossman was later convicted on multiple charges, including vehicular manslaughter, and sentenced to prison.
According to investigators, she continued driving after the crash before her vehicle eventually stopped.
A blood test reportedly showed her blood alcohol level was at the legal limit.
Family Awarded $176 Million
In June 2026, a civil jury found Grossman and Erickson liable for the deaths of the two children and awarded the Iskander family $176 million in damages.
Erickson was previously charged with misdemeanor reckless driving, but that charge was later dismissed.
