Damian Mitchell, 48, was sentenced to 25 years in prison on February 11, 2026, after a jury convicted him of second-degree murder in the December 29, 2024, stabbing death of 29-year-old Reminisce Biddle outside a Safeway in Phoenix, Arizona.
Incident Details
Biddle entered the Safeway near 7th Avenue and Osborn Road, collapsed after saying he was stabbed, and died from a single chest wound. Surveillance showed Mitchell buying a 3.5-inch paring knife and can opener with a prepaid debit card minutes earlier; the knife matched the wound. After passing Biddle outside and exchanging words, Mitchell followed him behind a building, stabbed him, then fled east on his bike while Biddle biked west for help.
Investigation and Arrest
Phoenix Police tracked Mitchell via the debit card, arrested him on January 5, 2025, and he admitted buying the knife but claimed someone else used it and returned it bloody before he discarded it. A witness saw the confrontation and altercation.
Sentencing Statement
Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell called it a needless escalation from words to violence, thanking prosecutor Bernita Clark for securing justice for Biddle’s family.
