A 23-year-old woman was killed by her father after a 'big' argument about Donald Trump, an inquest has heard.

Lucy Harrison, a 23-year-old from Warrington, England, died from a gunshot wound to the chest on January 10, 2025, at her father Kris Harrison’s home in Prosper, Texas, ruled a homicide by the medical examiner.

Inquest Findings

A U.K. coroner’s inquest on February 11, 2026, concluded her death was an unlawful killing due to gross negligence manslaughter, deeming Kris Harrison’s actions reckless—he pointed a handgun at her without checking for bullets and pulled the trigger while showing it to her. Harrison, who did not attend, stated in court that he had retrieved the loaded Glock from his bedside cabinet after discussing gun crime news; he did not recall his finger on the trigger and was unsure how it discharged. Officers noted alcohol on his breath after he admitted to relapsing with about 500 ml of wine that day.

Prior Argument

Harrison’s boyfriend, Sam Littler, testified they had argued heatedly that morning about Donald Trump ahead of his January 2025 inauguration; she also expressed upset over her father’s gun ownership and raised a hypothetical about sexual assault, prompting her to leave the room distressed. Roughly 30 minutes before their flight home, Kris led her to his bedroom, and Littler heard a bang 15 seconds later.

A Collin County grand jury declined to indict Kris Harrison, resulting in no U.S. criminal charges despite Prosper police’s investigation forwarded to the DA. Lucy’s mother criticized U.S. gun laws in response.
