Mile Dukic, a 39-year-old man from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, allegedly stabbed his 44-year-old live-in partner, Amanda Varisco, to death on February 5, 2026, after an argument escalated when she tried to leave their shared apartment. He faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and two counts of bail jumping, with court records showing he was on pre-trial release for prior stalking and bail jumping cases at the time.
Incident Details
Police responded to a welfare check at the apartment on West National Avenue after Varisco’s daughter received texts from Dukic admitting he “killed” her mother, claiming Varisco was “disrespectful and mean” and had been talking to another man. Officers found Varisco unconscious and not breathing on the floor with 22 stab wounds to her chest and abdomen, plus defensive wounds on her hands and arms; an officer attempted CPR, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dukic reportedly told police, “I didn’t want to do it,” and later admitted punching Varisco until she was unconscious before grabbing a knife to stab her. Her daughter’s boyfriend said Dukic refused entry, stating through the door, “I already told you she’s gone. I’m not letting you in.”
Background and Charges
Dukic described their relationship as occasionally sexual but not romantic. He has a prior 2008 homicide by negligent vehicle operation conviction (serving eight years for a drunk-driving crash that killed a passenger) and an open 2025 stalking case involving a neighbor where he was reportedly seen with a knife.
He made his initial court appearance on February 10, 2026, and remains in Milwaukee County Jail; a prior hearing for his open cases was set for March 10.
Victim’s Family
Varisco was a mother of four and grandmother to five, with a GoFundMe established by family for funeral expenses. No updates on the fundraiser’s status were detailed in reports.
