Katelyn A. Harmon, a 25-year-old from Waukesha, Wisconsin, faces multiple felony charges after allegedly striking two pedestrians with her car and attacking a third person with a knife in random acts of violence near Gurnee Mills mall on February 2, 2026.
Attack Sequence
Around 10:05 a.m., Harmon drove her damaged Toyota Camry into a 79-year-old man near Hobby Lobby on West Grand Avenue, then hit a 60-year-old woman; both were hospitalized—the man critically but stably, the woman with an ankle injury. She fled 850 feet to a nearby lot, posted a Facebook video boasting of the hits (“ran over people… praise Allah, Hare Krishna, thank you Jesus”) and evading police, claiming good people now fail.
Knife Assault and Arrest
At 10:31 a.m., Harmon slashed a 30-year-old man’s car window and tire behind Panera Bread, injuring his hands in a struggle; he disarmed her until tasered police arrested her amid the fight. No victim links or motive identified; she later told jailers she drove to Gurnee intending murder and would repeat it.
Charges and Status
Approved charges include two counts each of attempted first-degree murder, leaving crash scenes with injury, aggravated battery causing great harm, plus weapon-related batteries; detained pending February 4 court, probe ongoing with MCAT crash analysis.
