The mother told Crank to “get dressed” before heading to the backyard; Crank, found naked and wrapped in a blanket, approached from behind and stabbed her repeatedly in the back, head, neck, and chest—totaling 18 wounds. One knife broke from the force, prompting Crank to fetch more before trying to drag her dying mother inside the garage, blocked only by a safety sensor.

Neighbors heard cries for help, called 911, and captured video of Crank attempting to pull her mom back indoors; the mother collapsed on the sidewalk, declaring, “My daughter stabbed me.” Crank then feigned lifesaving efforts as a crowd gathered, later claiming her mom self-inflicted the wounds during a struggle—contradicted by wound locations, inconsistent shower evidence, and blood throughout the home.
