Gregory Zecca, stepson of reality TV star Duane “Dog” Chapman, was arrested on February 3, 2026, for the July 19, 2025, fatal shooting of his 13-year-old son, Anthony, in Naples, Florida. Authorities charged him with aggravated manslaughter of a child with a firearm and using a firearm while under the influence, following a detailed investigation.
Incident Details
Zecca had been drinking alcohol for hours at a bar, bought more, then consumed alcohol and marijuana at a friend’s home on Sumter Grove Way while watching a UFC fight with his son. He repeatedly handled a handgun—initially unloaded for dry-firing practice—but reinserted the magazine and chambered a round, discharging a fatal shot.
Deputies noted alcohol odor on Zecca and visible marijuana at the scene. Toxicology analysis estimated his blood-alcohol level at 0.116, above Florida’s 0.08 legal limit, confirming impairment.
Investigation and Arrest
Collier County Sheriff’s Office conducted an exhaustive probe using witness statements, forensics, subpoenas, and warrants over six months. Sheriff Kevin Rambosk called it a “heartbreaking and preventable tragedy.”
No immediate arrest followed the shooting; Zecca was placed on a psychiatric hold due to suicide concerns.
Family Response
Dog Chapman and wife Francie (Zecca’s mother) expressed grief through a representative, requesting prayers for their “beloved grandson Anthony.
