The lawsuit claims that after forcing the 75-year-old to turn herself and left her in filthy diapers until she passed away, the nursing facility lied about the woman's "worsening" pressure ulcer.

Judy Marsh, a 75-year-old woman with multiple sclerosis, died on April 6, 2025, from sepsis caused by a Stage 4 pressure ulcer that exposed her pelvic bones and muscles, according to a lawsuit filed by her family against Windsor House at Canfield nursing home in Ohio.

Neglect Allegations

Marsh entered the facility in December 2024 after pneumonia treatment, with no initial pressure wounds; a required two-hour turning/repositioning order was in place due to her weakness. Staff allegedly encouraged self-repositioning without assisting, skipped timely diaper changes exposing wounds to urine/feces, and documented falsely that she had “no open areas” despite large, tunneling ulcers on her buttocks leading to osteomyelitis. Wound care was inadequate, with inaccurate assessments and claims of improvement while conditions worsened visibly.

Deceptive Communication

The nursing home reportedly misled Marsh’s family, describing the ulcer as “worsening but managed” when it progressed unchecked to full-thickness Stage 4, per photographic evidence in the complaint from Michael Hill Trial Law.

Broader Claims

Her family alleges understaffing from a profit-driven model caused this “avoidable breakdown in basic care,” resulting in her refusal to eat and near-unconscious state before death. The lawsuit seeks accountability for these failures during her four-month stay.
