Ex-Marine says he livestreamed the aftermath of killing his father and stepmother in front of his 11-year-old sister as a way to say 'goodbye' to them.

Irvin Hernandez-Flores, 27, was convicted last week by a San Francisco jury of two counts of second-degree murder with firearm enhancements, plus child abuse, for the 2022 killings of his father Jose Hernandez and stepmother Yesenia Soto.

Crime Details

On August 13, 2022, around 2:20 a.m., the former U.S. Marine drove to the family’s Ingerson Avenue home in the Bayview district, scaled a locked security fence, broke in, and shot his father five times and stepmother six times while they slept, all in front of their 11-year-old daughter. He then livestreamed the aftermath on social media, appearing proud as his father lay dead in blood and his stepmother died slowly.

Post-Shooting Actions

Hernandez-Flores helped the shocked child—who did not cry—call 911 after the murders. In a prior jailhouse interview, he claimed heavy intoxication, partial memory loss, said his father charged him, and admitted emptying his clip then stopping his father’s “suffering” with more shots; he alleged his stepmother was caught in crossfire.

Verdict Impact

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins highlighted the case’s impact on the orphaned girl and community, crediting prosecutors for justice. Sentencing is set for February 27, 2026, with possible decades in prison.
