A mother from Florida was given a life sentence for killing her ten-year-old son, who had endured "unimaginable abuse and neglect."

Kimberley Leonie Mills, 38, received a life sentence without parole on January 14, 2026, in Lake County, Florida, for the first-degree murder of her 10-year-old son, Xavier Williams, following a no-contest plea to multiple charges including aggravated child abuse.

Case Details

Xavier died on March 21, 2025, after nearly a month on life support following hospitalization on February 22, 2025, in cardiac arrest with extensive bruises and burn marks from systematic torture at Mills’ Tavares home. Police found evidence like duct tape, a ladder, copper wire, and a 10-pound weight used to drop on his stomach, confirming prolonged abuse by Mills and her boyfriend, Andre Dwayne Walker.

Plea Agreement

As part of the deal, Mills agreed to testify against Walker, 37, who faces trial later in 2026 on identical charges and remains in custody without bond since their April 2025 indictment. Xavier’s father and extended family supported the resolution, while Tavares Police Chief Sarah Coursey described it as one of the community’s most heartbreaking crimes.
