Laurens County roads are closed due to significant flooding, officials say

Severe flooding has forced multiple road closures across Laurens County, South Carolina, as heavy rain continues to impact the area.

Flash Flood Warning Issued

The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Laurens County that remains in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Laurens County Emergency Management said several roads are now closed or considered impassable due to flooding.

Road Closures in Laurens and Clinton

Officials reported the following closures:

City of Laurens

  • East Main Street at Mills Street
  • Mills Street at Gordon Street
  • Jones Street at Caroline Street
  • Fleming Street at Oak Street
  • East Main Street near Starbucks
  • East Main Street at the Little River

Laurens County

  • Fleming Mill Road at Snake Trail

City of Clinton

  • Washington Street
  • South Livingston Street
  • Elm Street

Officials Warn Drivers

Emergency officials are urging residents:

  • Do not drive around barricades
  • Avoid flooded roadways
  • Use caution during heavy rain

Authorities warned that floodwaters can quickly become dangerous, especially at night when roads are harder to see.
