In a Memorial Day collision, one upstate teenager died and two others were injured

A 16-year-old Pendleton High School student died and two others were injured after a Memorial Day crash in Anderson County, South Carolina.

Teen Killed in Anderson County Crash

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the single-vehicle crash happened around 12:30 a.m. Monday on Five Forks Road in Pendleton.

Troopers said the driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway, and crashed into a tree.

Victim Identified

Authorities identified the victim as 16-year-old Spencer James Martin.

Officials said Martin was riding in the front passenger seat and died at the scene from his injuries.

He was a student at Pendleton High School.

Two Others Injured

The driver and another passenger were injured in the crash.

Authorities have not released details about the severity of their injuries.

Investigation Ongoing

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Anderson County Coroner’s Office continue investigating the crash.

Officials have not yet released the cause of the collision.
