A disturbing update has emerged in the Gilgo Beach serial killer case, as authorities reveal that the आरोपी has been receiving letters from another well-known convicted killer. The development has added a new layer of attention to an already high-profile case.

Serial Killers Connected Through Letters

Rex Heuermann, who recently admitted to killing eight women, has been receiving letters from Keith Hunter Jesperson.

Jesperson, known as the “Happy Face Killer,” is serving life sentences for multiple murders committed across several U.S. states. He became infamous for sending letters about his crimes, often signing them with smiley faces.

Details of the Communication

According to Errol D. Toulon Jr., Jesperson began writing to Heuermann shortly after he was taken into custody. Since then, more than 10 letters have reportedly been sent.

However, officials say that Heuermann has not actively responded. It is believed that he may have replied only once, if at all.

Authorities also confirmed that while they can check mail for safety reasons, they are not allowed to read the content of personal correspondence.

Heuermann’s Life in Custody

Heuermann is currently being held at a correctional facility in New York. Officials describe him as unusually calm and emotionally controlled, even after confessing to multiple murders.

He reportedly spends much of his time reading books and receiving visits from family members, lawyers, and religious representatives.

Crimes He Admitted To

Heuermann has admitted to killing eight women, including Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Amber Costello, Jessica Taylor, Valerie Mack, Sandra Costilla, and Karen Vergata.

The victims’ remains were discovered over many years, between 1993 and 2011, along areas linked to the Gilgo Beach case.

Investigation and Arrest

The case remained unsolved for over a decade until Heuermann was arrested in 2023. Investigators linked him to the crimes using DNA evidence and burner phone records.

Authorities also found evidence suggesting he had a strong fixation on the victims and followed updates related to the case online.

Sentencing Ahead

Heuermann is scheduled to be sentenced on June 17. After sentencing, he is expected to be transferred to a state prison.
