Bluffton PD provides an update on the May River senior prank event

Officials in Beaufort County say students involved in a senior prank at May River High School are being held accountable, while emphasizing that the focus should remain on celebrating the graduating Class of 2026.

Students Face Consequences

The Bluffton Police Department said it worked closely with the Beaufort County School District during the investigation into the senior prank that took place last month.

While the district cannot discuss individual disciplinary actions due to student privacy laws, officials confirmed that students involved have faced consequences.

According to the district, those consequences include community service, disciplinary measures and restitution for damages caused by the incident.

Focus Turns to Graduation

Ahead of Tuesday evening’s graduation ceremony, school officials encouraged families and the community to focus on the accomplishments of the Class of 2026.

The district said the graduation ceremony could be delayed or rescheduled if severe weather develops, with updates to be provided if necessary.

Celebrating Student Achievement

School leaders said the most important focus of the evening is recognizing the hard work and achievements of graduating seniors as they mark an important milestone and prepare for their future.
