He later married Erin Spohr, and their relationship with her wealthy parents reportedly became strained over time, especially due to disagreements about money and personal matters.
The 2021 Shooting Incident
In June 2021, a shocking crime took place at the Spohr family home in Lake Tahoe, California. Erin’s parents, Robert Gary Spohr and Wendy Wood, were shot inside their residence.
According to prosecutors, Serafini had entered the home earlier and waited for several hours. After Erin and her children left, he allegedly carried out the attack.
Gary Spohr died at the scene from a gunshot wound, while Wendy Wood survived despite serious injuries.
Alleged Motive Behind the Crime
During the trial, prosecutors argued that financial gain was the main reason behind the attack. They claimed Serafini believed he would benefit from his wife’s inheritance, which was estimated to be around $23 million.
However, Wendy Wood later removed Erin from her inheritance, which changed the situation significantly.
