What Happened in the Incident
The case took place in Peoria, where police were called to the East Bluff Community Center after receiving reports that a woman had been attacked.
When officers arrived, they found the victim in a serious condition, showing clear signs of physical assault.
Victim’s Condition
According to police, the woman had severe injuries, including:
- Eyes swollen nearly shut
- Cuts and deep wounds on her legs
- Bruising across her face and body
- A fractured nose
She was later hospitalised, though her injuries were reported as non-life-threatening.
Allegations Against the Accused
The accused, Johnnie Chiaravalle, 21, has been charged with multiple offences, including aggravated domestic battery.
The victim told police that:
- She was beaten continuously for 8 to 9 hours
- He used his fists to hit her face, head, and body
- He strangled her multiple times
- He threw knives at her, causing injuries
- He prevented her from leaving the house
She managed to escape only after he allegedly fell asleep.
Evidence Found at the Scene
When police visited the couple’s home, they reported finding:
- Clumps of hair believed to belong to the victim
- Blood-like stains on the floor
- Several knives, including steak and folding knives
These findings supported the victim’s statement about the violent incident.
Suspect’s Response
When questioned, Chiaravalle reportedly denied the allegations. He told officers that he had been asleep and suggested that someone else might have caused the injuries.
Despite his claims, police arrested him based on the evidence and the victim’s statement.

Chiaravalle is currently in custody and facing several charges:
