A Florida man was killed in a suspected bear attack while hiking in Glacier National Park, according to officials and family members.

Hiker Found Dead On Montana Trail

Anthony Pollio, 33, went missing after failing to return from a hike near Lake McDonald Lodge on Sunday.

Search crews later found his body about two-and-a-half miles up the Mt. Brown Trail in a wooded area. Authorities said his injuries were consistent with a bear attack.

Family Believes He Was Hiking To Watch Sunset

Pollio’s family said he was an experienced outdoorsman and hunter.

His brother believes he may have decided to hike to a fire lookout tower to watch the sunset before the attack happened.

Pollio’s father said a bear spray canister was found near the scene and believes his son tried to defend himself before being attacked by a grizzly bear.

Bear Attack Investigation Ongoing

Officials have not officially released the victim’s identity, but the family confirmed it was Pollio.

Authorities continue investigating the incident. According to reports, the last fatal bear attack in Glacier National Park happened in 1998.
