A Kentucky man has been charged after allegedly attacking two people with a baseball bat because they turned off their Wi-Fi connection that he had been using.

Attack Over Wi-Fi Access

According to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home on Waddle Street in Ferguson early Sunday morning after receiving a report of an assault. A man told dispatchers that Jonathan Gross, 44, attacked him and his girlfriend with a baseball bat.

When deputies arrived, they found the woman outside the home bleeding from the head. She told officers Gross had struck her with the bat and was hiding in a bedroom inside the house.

Threats Before Assault

Investigators said Gross became angry after the victims disconnected their Wi-Fi. He allegedly entered their apartment, threatened to kill them if the internet was not turned back on, and later attacked them with the bat.

Deputies eventually forced their way into the bedroom after Gross refused to come out and took him into custody.

Charges and Bond

Gross is charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of third-degree terroristic threatening, disorderly conduct, and alcohol intoxication in a public place.

He is being held at the Pulaski County Detention Center on a $1 million cash bond and is scheduled to return to court on May 13.
