A double murder that remained unsolved for nearly 13 years was finally solved after a California man confessed to killing a young couple camping on a remote beach before their wedding.
Couple Found Dead On California Beach
In August 2004, Jason Allen, 26, and Lindsay Cutshall, 22, were traveling along the Northern California coast before returning home to prepare for their wedding.
The couple, who worked at a Christian rafting camp, had been camping near Jenner when their bodies were discovered on Aug. 18.
Investigators said the two were shot in the head while sleeping inside their sleeping bags on the beach.
Case Went Unsolved For Years
Authorities said the remote beach location made the investigation difficult because weather and ocean conditions may have destroyed evidence.
Despite years of interviews and DNA testing, investigators were unable to identify a suspect for more than a decade.
Suspect Later Confessed
In 2017, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office announced that Shaun Gallon had confessed to the killings.
Officials said Gallon provided details about the crime that only the killer would know and later helped investigators recover evidence linked to the murders.
Man Sentenced To Life In Prison
Gallon was formally charged in 2018 and later entered no-contest pleas in the murders and other violent crimes.
In 2019, he was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole, along with an additional 94 years in prison.
