A Pennsylvania woman’s death has been ruled a homicide after investigators said she suffered severe neglect while living with multiple sclerosis.
Coroner Rules Death A Homicide
According to the Fayette County Coroner’s Office, 44-year-old Elizabeth Fike died on Oct. 16, 2025, at her home in Uniontown.
Coroner Dr. Bob Baker said Fike’s death was caused by neglect. Authorities reported she had a severe bedsore, known as a stage IV decubitus ulcer, and urosepsis, a serious infection caused when a urinary tract infection spreads into the bloodstream.
Investigators Found Unsanitary Conditions
Officials said Fike was found dead inside the home she shared with her boyfriend and caregiver, Tim Childs.
According to investigators, the home was in extremely poor condition. Baker previously said Fike had reportedly not left her bed for more than three months.
Authorities also found medical equipment inside the home, including a hospital bed and wheelchair, but investigators said the items appeared unused.
No Charges Filed Yet
Childs told local media after Fike’s death that he struggled to care for her after she ran out of medication. He also declined to discuss the condition of the home because of the investigation.
As of now, no criminal charges have been filed in the case. Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
