A Colorado man has been sentenced to more than 200 years in prison for the murder of a university professor during a home invasion in Colorado Springs.

Man Sentenced In Professor’s Killing

According to prosecutors, 54-year-old Ceasar Wilson was sentenced Wednesday for killing University of Colorado Colorado Springs professor Haleh Abghari in August 2024.

Authorities said Wilson entered Abghari’s home through an open garage before attacking her while she was preparing for bed.

Victim Fatally Stabbed

Investigators said Abghari was stabbed multiple times during a struggle inside her home. Police later found DNA evidence and a bloody palm print linking Wilson to the crime scene.

After the killing, prosecutors said Wilson stole the victim’s car and credit card and later used them during a shopping spree.

Arrest And Conviction

Wilson was arrested weeks later in Colorado after allegedly stealing another vehicle and attempting to flee from law enforcement.

A jury convicted him in February on charges including second-degree murder, aggravated robbery, motor vehicle theft, and identity theft.

District Attorney Reacts

El Paso County District Attorney’s Office said the sentence reflects the severity of the crime.

Officials described Abghari’s death as a major loss for her family and the university community.
