A North Charleston man will spend more than a decade in prison after pleading guilty in a deadly 2021 shooting.

Guilty Plea in Fatal Shooting Case

Sean Dimitris Brown, 50, changed his plea to guilty in connection with the shooting death of Reginald Hamilton.

A judge sentenced Brown to 20 years in prison and credited him for the five years he has already served in jail, leaving approximately 15 years remaining on his sentence.

Shooting Happened in Hotel Parking Lot

The case stems from an incident on Oct. 20, 2021, at the Economy Inn and Suites on Rivers Avenue in North Charleston.

Police responded to reports of a shooting and found Hamilton lying in the parking lot.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrest Made Weeks Later

Brown was arrested on Nov. 19, 2021, by members of the North Charleston Police Department’s Intelligence Led Policing Unit and the U.S. Marshals Task Force.

He was originally charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon before entering his guilty plea.
