Police in Charleston arrested a man after he allegedly fired shots in the parking lot of Bon Secours Roper St. Francis Hospital on May 16. No one was injured in the incident.
Incident Details
A victim called 911 around 10:40 a.m. to report the shooting outside the hospital on Henry Tecklenburg Drive. Authorities said the victim and suspect knew each other and had been arguing before the suspect allegedly fired shots.
Arrest and Charges
Officers detained 31-year-old Melvin S. Forrest, Jr., of Walterboro at the scene. He faces a first-degree assault and battery charge in connection with the shooting.
Police Statement
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shooting to submit an anonymous tip to assist with the investigation.
