A late-night argument at a bar in Kentucky has turned into a serious criminal case after a college student was accused of causing life-threatening injuries to another man.
Incident at Lexington Bar
The incident happened at Two Fisted Willie’s in Lexington on April 10. According to reports, a heated argument broke out inside the bar involving 20-year-old Hunter Hawthorne.
What Happened During the Fight
As per court documents, the situation escalated when another person tried to calm things down.
- A friend of the person involved in the argument stepped in to stop the fight
- Hawthorne allegedly punched him in the face
- The victim fell to the ground and hit his head
The impact was severe. The victim lost consciousness immediately after the fall.
Serious Injuries Reported
The victim’s condition was critical following the attack:
- He remained unconscious for around four minutes
- He was hospitalised for nearly a week
- Doctors treated him for a brain bleed, possible brain injury, and a fractured skull
Officials stated that such injuries can be life-threatening and may even lead to death in some cases.
Police Action and Additional Charges
Officers from the Lexington Police Department arrested Hawthorne shortly after the incident.
During the arrest, police reportedly made another concerning discovery:
- Nine fake ID cards were found in his bedroom
- Each card had different names and photos
Because of this, he now faces additional charges related to possession of forged documents.
Charges Filed Against the Accused
Hawthorne is currently facing:
- First-degree assault
- Nine counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument
Authorities believe his actions created a serious risk to the victim’s life.
Connection to University
Officials confirmed that Hawthorne is a student at the University of Kentucky. The university has not yet released a public statement regarding the incident.
